4 Tips to target your Audience

A target with cartoon people around it

Marketing plays a huge role in showcasing your skills/products to the public. However, it’s not magic and it certainly won’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of hard work and effort. The purpose of marketing is to show people what you have to offer. There is no one strategy that will help you do that. Before starting your business, you have to take into consideration that very few people have the ability to target everyone and because of that, you have to find a way to focus on the type of audience you want to attract. Figure out who you want your audience to be and follow our beginner-friendly steps that will help you target your audience better.

1. Build your personal brand

Branding is the most important tool you can acquire in your life. Whether you want to implement it in your everyday life or build a company, it has to be the first thing you think about. This process starts with you and ends with social media.

People often underestimate the value of social media when making a name for themselves and/or their company. Websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even Pinterest can really shape your brand depending on what you are offering. Through your brand and image, you can easily get in touch with CEO’s around the world and get the best clients through social networks. This alone will help get you through the door.

2. Solve. Don’t Sell

People want to feel connected to the product they’re buying. One of things that helps you narrow down your target audience is to figure out how you can make your product resonate with them. People are looking to have their problems solved, so it’s important to know how you can show them that you’re the one they need for a better life.  Do that and you’ll be on your way to finding out who you want your target audience to be.

3. Invest while you can

Since the rise of social media marketing, the importance of ads have come into play. Recent data from Hootsuite showed that in 2017 alone, CPC has steadily increased as time went on. Also, CPC by age remained steady within the $.70 to $.80 range and that it was higher for females than males given that more women are making a name for themselves on social media than men.

That said, ads are still inexpensive. You can still get results without breaking your bank. Use tools such as AdEspresso to find information about ads that best perform in the industry you’re in. Make sure to use the right platform for your target audience. According to the earlier Pew Research Center survey, Facebook is used by a majority of adults across a wide range of demographic groups, while Instagram and Snapchat are especially popular among 18 to 24-year-olds.

4. Build an online community

Roughly two-thirds of adults (68%) now report that they are Facebook users, and roughly three-quarters of those users access Facebook on a daily basis. With the exception of those 65 and older, a majority of Americans across a wide range of demographic groups now use Facebook. Take Facebook groups for instance, they are nothing new. However, they are important.

Facebook groups are a great way to build a loyal community. There, you can engage with people and build rapport with them. Once you create the group, you can easily establish trust while selling your products. One way to gain trust is to provide them free resources inside while simultaneously providing them with paid services. For instance, you can tell them to download a book for free, but then offer them a paid one-on-one session.
